Andrea White is a communication design educator and designer with a background in graphic design, web design, and user-centered design. She studied Communication Design and Advanced Multimedia and Web Design at Alexandria College and earned a BA in Studio Art from Concordia College (Moorhead), followed by an MFA in Design from the University of Wisconsin–Stout.
Her professional experience spans print production, branding, and responsive web design. Prior to joining the faculty at Alexandria Technical & Community College, she served as Creative Director at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.
Andrea’s teaching and design practice focus on how visual systems and designed objects shape real, everyday experiences—often in subtle or overlooked ways. Her interests include user experience design, design history, systems thinking, and designing tools and experiences by and for educators.

Communication Design Instructor
Cailey Birchem is a communication design educator and designer with a background in experiential design, visual communication, and brand-driven environments. She earned an MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) and a BFA from Bemidji State University’s School of Technology, Art and Design, where she focused on exhibit and experience design.
Her professional experience includes agency and freelance work for national and international clients, spanning branding, packaging, environmental graphics, and experiential marketing. Alongside teaching, she maintains an active freelance practice through Cailey Reed Designs LLC, which keeps her connected to evolving industry workflows and client-centered design challenges.
Cailey’s teaching and design practice explore how designed systems, spaces, and objects shape human experience, particularly at the intersection of storytelling, physical environments, and everyday interaction. Her interests include experiential and environmental design, visual systems, production-focused design education, and helping students translate conceptual thinking into practical, industry-ready outcomes.
