Health information and medical administrative assistants are among the fastest growing occupations nationwide. The expansion of electronic health records and related security issues continue to create diverse and challenging opportunities for medical office support staff.

Graduates may accept employment as medical receptionists and admission clerks, health unit coordinators, health information personnel, medical transcriptionists, editors, document quality specialists, insurance specialists, or administrative and departmental secretaries. The healthcare field requires administrative support and supervision in traditional hospital and clinical settings; dental, chiropractic, and optometric offices; nursing homes; public and home health services; ambulance and emergency services; pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies; medical publishers; and government agencies.
