Pathway to Manufacturing Career Success

Three free courses lead to a degree in the manufacturing industry.Through partnership, Alexandria Technical & Community College, District 206 Adult Basic Education, and Rural Minnesota CEP are offering three courses free of charge that lead to a degree in the manufacturing industry.

Twenty adult learners are about to embark on a FastTRAC Manufacturing Career Pathway at Alexandria Technical & Community College. A FastTRAC grant from the State of Minnesota has allowed the college, ABE, and Rural MN CEP to create a seamless pathway for 20 students to earn 6 college credits free of charge.

The Manufacturing Prep course is taught by Adult Basic Education, giving the participants a firm base of skills and a transitional step into college. In the spring of 2012, Basic Machining Processes and Introduction to Computers will be taught in an integrated format with ABE and Alexandria Technical & Community College instructors. Upon successful completion of these courses, the students will have earned six college credits free of charge and an ATCC certificate of completion. These credits articulate into multiple manufacturing programs offered at Alexandria Technical & Community College. A job counselor from RMCEP will guide the students while they are working through this process, will help resolve barriers, and will assist with the career decision making process.
