What is ACCUPLACER?
ACCUPLACER is an untimed series of basic skills tests in the areas of reading, writing, and math that is completed on a computer. This test allows you and the college staff to work together to help you succeed in your courses. There is no "passing score." Rather, scores indicate areas where you are strong, academic areas where you may need help, and which courses might be a starting point for your educational career. Please feel free to contact the Testing Center at Alexandria Technical & Community College IN ADVANCE by calling 320-762-4487 if you have questions about the placement test or need accommodations for the test.
Do I have to take the test?
If you have taken a placement test at another college within the last three years, please have those scores mailed or faxed (320-762-4603) to the Testing Center. If you have taken the ACT test within the last three years, please provide us with a copy of those scores. Based on specific scores in Reading, English, and Math on the ACT, you may not need to take all or individual portions of the test. If you have taken college English or Math courses, you may be exempt from all or portions of the test, but we will need a copy of your college transcript to make that determination.
