Phi Theta Kappa Logo

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the International Honor Society of two-year colleges.  Alexandria Technical and Community College’s local chapter is Alpha Pi Phi.  Each semester eligible students are invited to apply for lifetime membership to the organization.

To be eligible to join, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Completed 12 credits
  • Enrolled in a degree/diploma program
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.5

To apply students will need to submit an application, a $75 one-time application fee, and a copy of an unofficial transcript (available on e-services) by the semester application deadline.

PTK activities focus on the four hallmarks of scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship.  Meetings are on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month from noon-1pm on campus and via zoom, with occasional fellowship or service projects outside of our regular meetings.  There are no specific attendance requirements.  Activities are student-driven and have included activities like filling out holiday cards for nursing home residents, a food drive for the campus food pantry (Jennie’s Cupboard), bringing in or streaming special topic speakers, and button making.

Other benefits as a member of PTK include receiving a membership certificate and a gold PTK membership pin.  Students will also receive a gold PTK seal on their degree/diploma, notation on their transcript that they are a member of PTK, and a gold PTK stole to wear at graduation.  As a member of PTK, students will also have access to numerous scholarship opportunities, including at many four-year colleges if they decide to continue their education after their time at ATCC - plus scholarships specifically for veterans.

Invitations to join for all eligible students are sent to your school email at the beginning of each fall and spring semester.  If you have questions regarding PTK, please contact either of the PTK co-advisors, Carly Erickson or Jessica Wade-Ferrell.
